Not long after I was let go by MountainMouth, I met another Japanese attorney who appeared equally uninformed. He kindly invited Kana and I to dinner at his home. Gathered around the table at his home were several of his female family members. The women seemed charmingly enamored with my worship of my spouse. The attorney seemed equally bemused with what he knew the Japanese Bar had intended for my second marital disaster.
I recall his women folk explaining that the patriarch was not permitted to drive. This was explained away with 'Most Japanese attorneys don't drive' or something similar. I recall thinking at the time 'Perhaps if you just sliced your testicles off with rusty knife, your womenfolk could sautee them and we might all be able to partake.'
