Autumn 1986, I used to drive to my girlfriend's 1968 yellow Saab around Småland (= StevenMcIntireAllenLand aka SMAland!).

I would drive the rural, dirt roads from Väckelsång, Sweden to classes at Grimslövs Folkhögskola for Lions (Kiwanis?) Swedish language, culture and history.

On the way to school, I would pass farmhouses, including the one pictured above. Much of the roadway to school was narrow, windy, wooded, great autumn foliage.

The Swedes love their road rallies. The roads are closed off, similar to Formula 1 on dirt roads. Specatators gather at locations along the course, not as much in the winter. My Swedish buddies would tell me about the rallies. As I drove to school, I would fantasize I was in a road rally, take corners too fast, and generally barely avoid damaging the woodwork.
