Everyday, the average Wall Street banker commits worse crimes than anyone in an American prison. If I were black, there would be many more dead white people, and I would be in prison serving multiple life sentences.
Until very recently, I had no doubt that good and evil did not exist. God, the Devil, evil, good were value judgements, figments of human imaginations. Gradually, over the decades, I have realised that if you believe in good and evil, and I am beginning to, evil are the acts, or the Devil is the people, who are not pursuing harmonious existence. People or activities that are purposely antagonising the pursuit of tranquil coexistence.
For example, if you were
- invading other planets,
- potentially causing the destruction of other life forms that won't exist for billions of years and
- building cars that daily burst into flames
one could fairly label that person as not interested in the best interest of humanity, the planet and the universe. That person is evil.
