More than any other character in Amadeus, which is one of my favourite movies, I identified with the role played by Jeffrey Jones, Emperor Joseph II. The way Mr. Jones played The Emperor seemed so fait accompli. The way life plays out is very often incredibly self-evident. We are our own worst enemies in refusing to cognise the obvious.
