promises & lies

it sure as schuks ain't no Sykes-Picot

A myth in America brainwashes that any American can become President. Perhaps more than any person in America, a superficially black x President perpetuates that myth.

America is, always has been, far more fascist than the National Socialists ever were. Mr. t is not going to permit me to have a go at him. Too many of his minions are in place. I'd been forewarned that Microsoft would not let me appear in the official debates. I have yet to find a President or Presidential candidate who wishes to debate me in public. Even shake my hand.

Ditto with the media. I have called, texted, emailed and visited mass media TV, radio, and newspaper outlets. They don't return my calls.

As I have traveled your country, visiting state and local Republican headquarters, a Senator's office, about half a dozen Governor's offices, I have found a handful of local politicians who will shake my hand. On one occasion of reaching across the aisle, the Democrat told me

We have to leave this to the Republicans.

- I Owe A, Des Moines attorney early 2023

Zero interest in meeting me, and less than zero interest meeting me a second time. That's not zero in a good way. Too many times a political consultant, attorney or political party functionary will claim she or he will help. Before a second meeting can be arranged, they all suddenly go cold. What does he offer them? What does he threaten? Who dies?

Could we have been 30 years ahead of where we are? If so, credit Slick Willy.

Prior to Mr. Dump, the last time an industrialist closed in on the Presidency was in 1992. Perhaps the lack of industrialists in politics has to do with some of us getting laid with less taxpayer dollars.

I volunteered for Mr. Perot's first of three efforts. Mr. Clinton threw him a bone. 1992 July, Mr. Perot abandoned his campaign for the Presidency. 1992 October Mr. Perot reentered the race as a spoiler, enabling Mr. Clinton to win.

When Mr. Obama was first elected, I was at a social gathering for work about a 100 metres from my office in Osaka. The Consul General from the UK for the Japanese in Osaka and I spoke. I suspect the Consul had been briefed I was a Republican. Hence, when I replied to counsel's inquiry regarding Mr. Obama's recent election, Consul seemed a bit taken aback with the thrill, the unabandoned joy in my voice.

It will be nice to listen to a President who can put multi-syllable words together in complex sentences.

I had voted for Mr. Obama thinking he was going to be different than the rich white boys who proceeded, worse yet, followed. Soon I realised I had voted out of white guilt.

from the mouths of youth

My daughter's nursery school cohort included children of the Italian Consul General. Also living in the WesternGate, I was told, was the Consul General from India, who authored the book on which Slumdog Millionaire was based. Imagine what top-level security clearances and code words our children were creating for a century from now, give or take.

I heard an endless source of wisdom pour forth from the Consul General for the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and I quote him to this day. They are now in Ambassador postings & beyond.

In early 2009, the Ambassador for Japan from Canada (a person on whom I have, on occasion, modeled myself) invited me to meet with him in his office in Tokyo overlooking The Palace.

The power an x President has is sufficient for any one of them to veto any person's candidacy, for anything, anywhere. Could another politico not be vetoed by Mr. bad hair? Sure, only because if he permits my candidacy, he'd be admitting he's not the alpha male. There's a difference between taking pride in one's achievements and being prideful.

Mr. t pretends, and only one as gullible as I would publish his pretenses here, that in his second term he can help me get The Aerostate started. He can't. The world knows him for what he is better than you do. He even threw the old (very old) 'How about Japan Ambassador?' line at me. He claims he will be more the proxy President that he was supposed to have been in his first term. He won't.

He has lied to me, and you, too many times. Only a people as gullible as the American voter would believe him. If he reneges, you won't know, and if you do, you won't recall.

What promise has an American President has fulfilled?

I can show you how your idea of his achievement will, for me, be yet another example of the vicious downward spiral.

Am I bitter? Yes. Furious. Do you wish to listen to another in a long line of idiots for four years?

In 2021 I was having breakfast at my UB buddy's B&B on Grand Island. His husband was serving. Other guests at breakfast included a retired teacher and partner. They were well-read, thoughtful and considerate. (At least the ones I enjoyed conversing with over breakfast!) One morning we were discussing the insurrection and I said

I support the insurrection. I don't support it being led by THAT man.

Mr. Trump is on the verge of setting us back 30 years. Again. This time, the fault will not be mine. I hope to use my time wisely knawing on the bone I've been thrown.

Next time you imagine how or what I must do, recall that just because you've woken up to this recently doesn't mean the rest of the world has been sleeping. Please enjoy your next Corona.

When we woke up this mornin', couldn't tell the world had changed
We were clingin' to each other through the gas and the acid rain
S.W.A.T. standin' like a wall, they were there to intimidate
And the masses all fled as they broke through the barricade

Fingerprints and a photo to match my disbelief
It was never meant to be the civilians against police
I remember when you told me there was nothing left to fight
But it never crossed my mind you could be right

Whatever happens in our time
Say you won't turn back
'Cause all the rebels have died out
But we're not like the rest
We'll make it to the horizon
So pray for the best
And if it happens in our time
We'll be the last ones left
The last ones left

Heard the revolution comin' on a broken LCD
But nobody could tell if it was news or a prophecy
We were skeptical at first, but it's hard not to agree
'Cause once in a lifetime history repeats

If this is the dawning of a new world I don't know
Just don't you dare ask what I think the future holds
All the elders said there was nothing left to fight
But it never crossed my mind they could be right

Whatever happens in our time
Say you won't turn back
'Cause all the rebels have died out
But we're not like the rest
We'll make it to the horizon
So pray for the best
And if it happens in our time
We'll be the last ones left

They told me I was cynical, that I got too emotional
But I've seen all my heroes left behind
I never tried to pick a side, I said we'd always have to fight
It hardly crossed my mind I could be right

Whatever happens in our time
Say you won't turn back
'Cause all the rebels have died out
But we're not like the rest
We'll make it to the horizon
So pray for the best
And if it happens in our time
We'll be the last ones left

And if it happens in our time
Say you won't turn back
'Cause all the rebels have died out
But we're not like the rest
We'll make it to the horizon
So pray for the best
And if it happens in our time
We'll be the last ones left
The last ones left
The last ones left
Last ones left
We'll be the last ones left
