William Erastus Upjohn and Rachel Phoebe Upjohn, née Babcock (1886–1967) had a son named William Harold Upjohn, called Harold.

Harold, born in 1884, was the only son of Upjohn Company founder William E. Upjohn and his wife Rachel. ー The Harold and Grace Upjohn Foundation

My purported grandfather, who was actually my biological father, Harold Brainerd Allen, was born in Detroit in 1896, a second generation Michigander. Harold moved to Three Rivers before or during 1910. When he was 18, HBA was first exposed to Upjohn products, working as a pharmacist in Three Rivers. Trinity?

In 1915, Harold moved to Kalamazoo to go to K College. Kzoo, not a big city then or now, the Upjohns found my father cycling.

After college, he went to work in a bank, quickly gaining a seat on the Board of the bank.

In 1925 [W.] Harold [Upjohn] was appointed Vice President and General Manager of the company. He died three years later from complications following surgery. ー The Harold and Grace Upjohn Foundation

William Erastus was 75 years old when he lost his only son in 1928.

My biological father (purported grandfather), Harold Brainerd Allen, was 32 years old, just 12 years younger than William's recently deceased son.

In 1932 he joined the Upjohn Company as a statistician and soon became corporate secretary to the organisation. ー Kalamazoo Gazette

He served 13 years as Secretary of the Board of The Upjohn Company.
